VMware announced VMware Cloud on AWS is now available in Bahrain. The service, which launched on February 28 in the AWS Middle East (Bahrain) region, will help customers in Bahrain move their workloads across VMware cloud environments with optimised access to AWS services, supporting their digitisation plans and enhancing their ability to innovate.
The service brings VMware’s enterprise-class Software-Defined Data Center software to AWS bare metal infrastructure to run enterprise workloads more securely at scale, across both virtual machines and containers. The service features built-in Kubernetes and more optimised access to 200+ native AWS services including data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to deliver a pragmatic approach to app modernization.
“Through this collaboration with AWS, we are helping to drive adoption of reliable, more secure and cost-effective cloud computing amongst organisations in Bahrain,” said Ahmed Auda, VP, METNA Sub-Region, VMware. “Together we are helping to empower organisations to increase their efficiency and agility, while also helping to position them to deploy modern applications, which will in turn support the digital transformation aims of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.”
ICT is increasingly viewed as a pillar of Bahrain’s economic diversification, with the country’s Economic Development Board (EDB) attracting USD98 million (BHD37 million) worth of Direct Investments from 14 prominent international companies in its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector in the first 3 quarters of 2022.
