The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has launched a public consultation to review the draft regulation for ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. This initiative, publicised through the TRA’s social media channels and official website, invites stakeholders and the public to provide their input on the proposed regulations.
The consultation aims to enhance the quality of telecommunications services in Oman, ensure efficient management of natural and national resources, and stimulate research and development within the sector. The TRA’s goal is to foster a regulatory environment that encourages investment in innovative technologies and services.
“The involvement of beneficiaries and stakeholders in these consultations is crucial for drafting regulations, controls, and guidelines,” stated a TRA spokesperson. “This collaborative approach contributes to building a digital society that values empowerment, initiative, innovation, and cooperation.”
UWB technology, known for its precision in tracking assets, people, and vehicles, is especially effective in complex indoor environments. Its applications range from asset management and inventory tracking to personnel monitoring, making it a vital tool for various industries.
The TRA encourages everyone to review the public consultation document available on their website (www.tra.gov.om) and submit their feedback before the deadline.
This public consultation represents a significant step towards creating a more connected and technologically advanced society in Oman.
