Microsoft is highlighting its intelligent cloud, data centre and AI technologies at Gitex this year. The company is also exhibiting the potential of new technologies that will drive the workplace of the future.
“Gitex provides us with the advantage of meeting customers and partners under one roof. We are already having interesting interactions to educate visitors on how these technologies are enabling companies to better engage customers, empower employees, optimize operations and transform business models,” explained Necip Ozyucel, Cloud and Enterprise Business Group Lead at Microsoft Gulf.
“Cloud computing is a huge priority in the region with the only challenge being data latency. We thus announced our local Microsoft cloud data centres earlier this year, which will go live next year. Halfway there, Gitex provides us with the opportunity to enlighten our customers and partners on how to adopt and implement these data centres,” said Ozyucel.
Ozyucel added that while the region is quite advanced when it comes to cloud adoption, some industries are not as aggressive due to data latency and residency. “We realised that such challenges can be overcome if the data were to reside within country borders. Hence, we announced the two cloud data centres, one in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi, that are part of Microsoft’s huge global footprint of 54 regions (more than 100 data centres),” he added.
The Microsoft stand is also hosting an Augmented Reality (AR) experience where visitors will be able to step into an AR portal and take a virtual stroll around a typical data centre.
Microsoft will also leverage its participation this year to announce new customer projects, partnerships and collaborations aimed at highlighting the business benefits of digital transformation.
