Kyndryl set goals to hold itself accountable for progress across its businesses, operations, supply chain, and society. It recently released its first Corporate Citizenship Report, which provides details on Kyndryl’s progress across three pillars — the Environment, Our People and Communities, and Trust. The report articulates the company’s commitment to address environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities, while also building long-term value for stakeholders.
As part of Kyndryl’s sustainability programme, aligned with its environmental priorities, the company aims to reduce its environmental impact and help stakeholders meet regulatory, customer, and investor requirements. Since its inception, Kyndryl:
- Committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 and aims to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030.
- Developed its scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas baseline and committed to validating its net zero targets through the Science Based Targets initiative.
- Built a responsible supply chain programme aligned with the Responsible Business Alliance and EcoVadis standards.
Kyndryl is leveraging its offerings to help customers reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the efficiency of their IT estates and business operations. These offerings include migrating Kyndryl’s customers to the cloud with key partners using renewable energy; digitising the workplace supporting hybrid office strategy; and improving data centre efficiencies and reducing energy consumption. Kyndryl has also rolled out a Green Guild programme to drive employee engagement, develop customer solutions, and support its emission reduction commitment.
“As the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, we recognise the pivotal role of technology in the transition to a low-carbon economy,” said Andreas Beck, Vice President and Managing Director, Kyndryl Middle East and Africa. “We are not only committed to supporting our customers and partners in the region and globally as they strive for a more sustainable business and future, but also to build sustainability into the very core of Kyndryl’s foundation.”
ESG reporting within Kyndryl’s Corporate Citizenship Report aligns with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures frameworks, as well as the Global Reporting Initiative. Kyndryl also aligns its programming to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — 17 connected goals to address climate change, improve health and education, reduce inequities, and inspire economic growth.
In 2023, Kyndryl submitted its first CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) Climate Change questionnaire to outline its environmental performance. The company also received an EcoVadis Silver rating in its first full fiscal year, placing Kyndryl in the top 25% of all participating companies.
