The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) in the presence of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources H.E. Tarek El Molla has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CAFU, the MENA region’s first on-demand fuel delivery service, to provide regulatory support and enable its launch across the Arab Republic of Egypt. Signed at the Egypt Petroleum Show 2020, the agreement is a recognition of CAFU’s compliance with local regulations and safety standards, allowing the UAE-headquartered technology company to provide fuel delivery services in Egypt.
CAFU’s launch in Egypt marks the second and largest international market entry for the technology company since it began services in the UAE in November 2018.
CAFU uses big data and artificial intelligence technology extensively to deliver a world-class experience, predict customer demand and allow for anytime-anywhere conveniences for customers. CAFU services are now live in Umm Al Quwain and with operations in Cairo with fully trained and qualified pilots expected to kick-off in the coming months.
His Excellency Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said, “Egypt has become a hotbed for innovative tech startups like CAFU eager to participate in the country’s thriving economy that features one of the largest and youngest populations in the region. The oil and gas sector remains strategically important for the country and is ripe for disruption. CAFU promises to bring new technology and know-how to the market that will positively impact the industry and its consumers, especially for those who are living in densely populated areas.”
Designed to deliver fuel “anytime anywhere” directly to customers’ vehicles, CAFU is a fast, safe and easy-to-use on-demand fuel delivery service available through a mobile app. Since launching in the UAE, CAFU has delivered nearly one million fills of top-quality petrol straight to consumers’ homes, offices or anywhere their car might be parked, through its fleet of over 180 custom built delivery trucks. Users only provide their car location, fuel type and fill amount and choose a convenient time for their fuel delivery through the app.
CAFU also announced its entry into the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain building on its existing UAE presence in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. Available for residents and tourists in Umm Al Quwain, CAFU’s custom-built trucks will deliver fuel across the emirate at home, the gym, the beach, hotels, malls and more. Customers only need to provide their car location and schedule the time of their fuel delivery through the app between 5 AM and 11 PM daily.
Rashid Al Ghurair, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CAFU said, “Our origin in the UAE has been inspired by the vision of the nation’s leadership and today’s announcement is reflective of that as we mark our entry into the African continent and expand our footprint in the UAE. We have a relentless passion for innovation excellence, and as an Emirati owned, Dubai-based technology company, CAFU is on a mission to transform how people fuel their vehicles by digitalising their customer experience. We are confident that our homegrown technology, combined with our growing fleet of safety-tested and certified trucks will deliver a one-of-a-kind convenience for our customers.”
